making a difference

About

X

Brief History

It began with a small group at the parent church (Clay Center Covenant) in Clay Center, KS dreaming about bringing what they had to Washington.  A group formed and began praying about it in 2009.  After lots of prayers and over time the group formed into a bible study.  That Bible study formed into a Launch Team and on October 6th, 2013 it launched its weekly worship services.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to love others so they might know the love of Jesus and to strengthen our bonds so we might together mature in Christ.

Values

Faith Connection values the following ...

The Bible

Life works best when guided and deeply influenced by His word.

Creativity and Innovation

We were created to create and innovate in a way that makes God real in the world around us.

Inclusivity

God's message was for all people and so is Faith Connection.  We strive to include everyone in participating in God's work in Washington.  We feel this is one of the best ways to introduce people to the life-changing relationship with God and His hope for our lives.

Meeting Needs

The Good News of God affects all aspects of our lives and drives us to care for people in all areas.

Families

Families are important to God and so they are important to us. Your kids are welcome to move around and make noise during our worship service. God put those things in them and we rejoice in that.

Unity

We are all about the "capital C" church. We are better together.

Our Mission

X

Who is Faith Connection?

We are church that is all about connection; connecting to Jesus and connecting to each other. As a group of imperfect people, each day we continue to learn what it looks like to love each other and our community like Jesus loves us. Faith Connection feels called to minister to the entire Washington area and believes that our actions should impact the entire community and "make a difference."

Our Purpose

Our purpose is "to love others so they might know the love of Christ, and to strengthen our bonds so together we will mature in Christ." Our hope is that this mission excites you as much as it does us. If so please join us in making a difference by showing the love of Christ in the Washington area.

An Invitation

To all who are spiritually weary and in search of rest...

To you who are mourning and longing for comfort...

To any who sin and need a savior...

For the stranger in need of fellowship...

To those who hunger and thirst for righteousness...

 And to whomever will come...

Faith Connection Covenant Church opens wide its doors and welcomes all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Stephanie Nelson

I grew up on a farm in Nebraska. My family lived in a rented home right across from a church. Little did I know the times I would spend exploring that church as a child would somehow serve as an echo of what God would have in store for me. I loved standing behind the pulpit and pretending to lead prayer time.

Before becoming a pastor, I was a graphic designer while serving as a worship leader at the very church I grew up in. In early adulthood, God gave me a heart for the Church through hearing the stories of those who grew up attending (like me) and somehow missed what it meant to actually be a Christian - a relationship with Jesus. That heart turned into developing my gift and love of teaching the Bible in all kinds of settings. Having the opportunity to teach at local workshops at Moms' Connect groups to Bible studies to headlining conferences and retreats in places like Arizona, Colorado, and Nebraska, I admit, I tend to go wherever people want to hear God's word.

I love to walk dogs at my local animal shelter, reading books of all types, and having a good cup of coffee with a friend. (But it has to be good!) My friends call me a coffee snob and a theology nerd... and, well, they aren't wrong. I have a BA in Communications from Sterling College in Sterling, KS and a MA from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, and am ordained to Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Covenant Church. But most importantly - I believe that puppy snuggles and chocolate are proof that Jesus is continuing to redeem the world.

Philosophy of Ministry

I believe that everything about how we live and understand life is born out of our view of God. So it has to start there - understanding the character of the God who has created us. When we come closer to knowing and believing in who God is, then from our hearts will pour that truth, and affect our actions. So I believe in teaching the truth about who God is, and how his Son Jesus modeled for us what that "pouring out" ought to look like. The rest will follow.

Weekly Worship

X

What?

We meet every Sunday for what we call our "Weekly Worship."  Worship is far more than just singing to God.  It is a time that we set aside weekly to sing together, learn together, give together, encounter God together, talk and share our lives together.  (we also drink coffee together.)

When?

Sundays at 9:30 am

The service usually lasts a bit over an hour.  However, everyone sticks around and visits afterward and enjoys coffee and sweets.

Where?

1803 Wilson Dr, Washington, KS 66968

The red barn building South of Washington on the East side of the road, just North of Bradford Built.

What about children?

We love children and provide a nursery for young children, and parents are free to make use of this or not at their own discretion. We do this so that parents can relax and focus during the service, but also love and embrace kids moving around and being part of the service while it's going on. We strive to make our worship services engaging for the entire family so most children will get something from each Sunday.

How should I dress?

Whatever you feel comfortable in. It is an informal environment and we want people to feel comfortable and like themselves. Stephanie often delivers the weekly message in jeans if that is an indicator for you.
